She opens her eyes for the day, clear beautiful eyes, and instantly she wants to close them. She wants to go back to sleep. She is not ready for today, she is not ready for her mounting responsibilities, she is not ready to pretend to be happy with her tired routine. She is not ready to go to work, she is just not ready for life today.

Why? Life has been kicking her butt, life has been throwing her one curve ball after another, and so far she has been striking out. Repeatedly. She’s just not ready. This beautiful girl is stuck. Is she you?

Anxiety. Depression. A complete and utter lack of enthusiasm. The monotony of the days just tumble by, one day the same as the next, a bitter blur of nothing and the same. Where is all the joy? Where are all the dreams you dreamed so long ago? Where is this amazing life you were so sure you would be living? How did you get here? What the heck happened, and how did it all go so wrong?

Life happened. Life is happening all around you. Life is either happening to you, or for you. It boils down to a simple choice, a choice you can make today. Now.

My bet is that as you read this, life is happening to you. How frustrating. How scary. How very sad. Are you stuck?

Well friend, get unstuck. Do it right now.

I can guarantee that there is a reason you are feeling the way you do. There is a beautiful, magical explanation for your discomfort. There really is a perfect solution to your problems, and to your unhappiness. There is a fantastic path ahead for you if you are brave enough, faithful enough to just take the right steps.

So go ahead. Start by taking the first step. Walk this way. Walk right away from your anxious thoughts, your sad routine, your depressing limitations. Open your eyes and your heart and SEE.

There is absolutely a reason for your trials and discomfort. There is a reason for your pain. There is a reason for all of it.

My dear, it is time for change. It is time for you to shed what you have outgrown and emerge into the life God has in store for you. God has an amazing plan for you, and this is the time for you to figure that out.

Have you stopped to consider why you are unhappy? Why you may be struggling or fighting your way through a seemingly, never ending, uphill battle? Why you are hurting? Perhaps your discomfort is meant to get your attention. Maybe it is just time for you to emerge from that cocoon you have wrapped around yourself.

What are you waiting for?

You were not meant to feel this way. You were not created to be unhappy. God created you, He has ideas for you, plans for you, and He has joy for you.

You may not have always followed His path for your life, and if you took a detour, you can get back on track. Or you very well could have minded all your P’s and Q’s, tried to do everything the right way, but you might be traveling your own path and not the one God had set before you. Maybe you weren’t supposed to stay on the same road, looking at the same scenery, walking the same path. Perhaps there have been twists and turns you didn’t see coming, road construction that wasn’t planned, or maybe you just broke down on the side of the highway of life. That’s ok!

Open your eyes! Look at what God is trying to show you. Open your ears and listen to the instructions that He is trying to give to you. Quit trying to navigate this life by yourself, because it never works out that way. Just look, listen, and obey. Grow some wings and

Why?

Because life is an adventure! What absolutely amazing day does God have in store for you today? What unique challenges is He going to place before you that He knows you can overcome? That He knows will shape you, and change you for the better? What hidden blessings are right around the very next corner? Who’s life can you have an impact on? Who can you help? Who can help you? What magic awaits you when you look and listen through the very eyes of the one who created you? Adventure awaits, if you have the courage to anticipate it!

When you start looking forward to your day as a brand new episode instead of the same tired rerun, your whole perspective changes, your heart changes, your mind changes. You change. You

That’s when it’s time to spread your wings and fly.

As I write this, as I come to the end, my phone goes off. A little noise, a distraction, a notification. I almost ignore it. It can wait, I think. I almost ignore it, but then I don’t. Something tells me to pick up my phone. Instantly, I am glad I did.

It was God.

Actually, it was Google. And no, I do not think Google is God.

I just happened to get a notification, right now, as I am finishing this, from Google photos. Google wanted me to rediscover this day, one year ago. Curious, I click on the picture.

What do I see? A butterfly. I kid you not. One year ago today I must have snapped this photo and forgotten it. It is a gorgeous photo of a beautiful butterfly with it’s wings on display, a tribute to the beauty God created by change. This butterfly didn’t start this way, and thank God it didn’t resist the transformation.

I sit here and smile. God is talking to me. This is my confirmation, and yours.
